Children living with pets have more sense of responsibility
Experts state that taking more responsibility for pet care during the transition from childhood to adolescence improves self-confidence, empathy and a sense of responsibility.
In a study performed by the American Heart Association, it was revealed that pets relieve stress and have important benefits to conditions such as obesity and cholesterol levels. In addition, experts state that pet feeding has improved social skills during the transition from childhood to adolescence. It is stated that gaining the self-confidence and empathy feeling is high in children who take more responsibility for the care of their cute friends.
By emphasizing that pets develop the sense of loyalty in children and play an important role in gaining awareness of their responsibilities, Specialist Family Therapist Sim Korçan said, “Feeding the animals and taking care of them also stimulates the sense of responsibility, empathy, self-confidence and love transfer. When the children receive unconditional love from the animals, all their emotions are positively affected.”
WARNING TO THE PARENTS: DO NOT KEEP CHILDREN AWAY FROM ANIMALS
Specialist Family Therapist Sim Korçan from Nişantaşı University, who advises parents about the love of animals for their children, said, “Parents naturally want to keep the animals that they cannot measure their reaction away from children. We can create a permanent phobia against animals when reactions such as 'don't do it, stop, do not approach that animal', when the child approach an animal. However, keeping them away from loving animals is not correct. Exchange of love with animals is important for the development of positive emotions.”
THERE MAY BE INTERACTIONS WITH THE ANIMALS ON THE STREETS
By telling that feeding animals at home will increase these feelings more, but this is not necessary. Sim Korcan said, “It is not necessary to feed animals at home to experience this transfer of love and emotion. Especially Istanbul streets are very advantageous in this respect. We just need to be a little bit more careful when we love animals on the street. In short, we can provide this interaction by taking care and feeding not only the animals we own, but also the animals on the street.”Release date: 07.02.2020
