Korean Cuisine Introduced in Nişantaşı University
Organized by the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts under Faculty of Art and Design in Nişantaşı University 'World Cuisine Days', began with the Korean Cuisine Event. Keewon Hong, the Consul General of the Republic of Korea was the guest of honour of the Korean Cuisine Days organized in cooperation with the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea.
Keewon Hong, the Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Istanbul, spoke at the opening ceremony of the event which took place at 1453 NeoTech Campus of Nişantaşı University and expressed his happiness to introduce his country's culture.
Keewo Hong stated that or thousands of years the existing historical and cultural ties, the support Turkish soldiers gave in the Korean War and the show of friendship in the 2002 World Cup indicates that the bonds of brotherhood between Korea and Turkey are increasing. He said relations are increasing in many areas such as economic culture and education between the two countries.
Keewo Hong stated that recently Korea and Turkey are getting closer culturally, "Today, we will make Korea's representative food bulgogi and japchae with students. We will taste Korean meals with students afterwards. I wish that with this event you will like Korean culture and will be more interested in Korea.

Nişantaşı University Rector. Prof Dr Esra Hatipoğlu reminded that the start of political relations between the Republic of Korea and Turkey was in 1949, and the start of diplomatic relations was in 1957, we especially won’t forget the support of Korea in 1999 earthquake.
Prof. Dr Hatipoğlu also mentioned the growing interest of young people in Korean cinema and music recently. She emphasized that this cuisine activity in Nişantaşı University will contribute to the cultural relations between the two countries.
Prof. Dr Hatipoğlu, "Our collaborations in education, communication, IT, energy fields and the overall volume of trades are increasing and deepening. Economic and trade cooperation is very important for Korea's investment and mega projects in Turkey. On the other hand a complement to this process in Public diplomacy” “We should learn more about each other more closely and increase the number of such activities. Here, meals will be a tool to win each other's hearts”.
Following the speeches, the students of the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts made Korean foods with Korean cooks. Istanbul Consul General of the Republic of Korea Keewon Hong and Nişantaşı University Rector Prof. Dr Esra Hatipoğlu gave a certificate to the students who attended the Korean Cuisine Event from Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts.
