Savaş Biçer assigned for a mission in NATO exercise
Dr. Savaş Biçer, Head of Department of Political Science and Public Administration at Nişantaşı University, was assigned for a mission in Eurasian Star 2019 Exercise conducted by Ministry of National Defence in cooperation with NATO.
Last week Eurasian Star 2019 Exercise was performed by the Ministry of National Defence in cooperation with NATO. Total 19 headquarters with NATO command and Force Structure and 495 staff in total from national institutions and international organizations participated in the exercise organized in 3rd Corps Command (HRF) based in Istanbul. Dr. Savaş Biçer, Head of Department of Political Science and Public Administration at Nişantaşı University, took part in the exercise as an expert in the field.
Dr. Savaş Biçer told that these exercises are performed regularly every year and about why he was selected for this mission. He also added, “Turkey has performed his commitments exactly since it became a member of NATO. It is at the forefront when there is a need of NATO, especially in terms of military issues regarding security. This is always appreciated by NATO. NATO has got into a new restructuring process especially after the Cold War. Within this process, a different structuring is required apart from NATO’s force structure. Command structure has been added to its force structure. Troops of the command structure established troops that can respond promptly to international crisis not included in Article 5. These are arms corps. One of them was established in Turkey. This exercise belongs to the 3rd Corps (HRF) Command. These exercises are performed regularly every year. NATO assesses its opportunities and capabilities. I was assigned as an expert of the field in this exercise. My mission was to act as a field expert in the part representing a possible threat is expected from enemy forces.
