Considering the occupancy rates in higher education, even though there are competent academicians in universities, within theoretical courses in the field of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, which stands out as one of the favorite departments of recent years, the high level of need for specialist lecturers on the subject of kitchen applications had been known as a prominent issue with trainings given in the field.

“Trainer’s Training in Gastronomy and Culinary Arts” certificate program which was held within the scope of the trainers' training and organized by Nisantasi University to contribute to the needs of academicians specialized in the field of kitchen applications in the departments of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts has been recently completed and certificates were presented by the Rector of Nisantasi University, Professor Esra Hatipoglu to the academicians from various universities who participated in the training.

All academicians who participated in the training on subjects of Professional Cookery and Kitchen Practices, Advanced Pastry – Bakery, which lasted for approximately four months, thanked Nisantasi University for its contributions in the training process during the certificate ceremony.

Assistant Professor Ozgur Ergun, one of the academicians who received training in the certification program stated his thoughts about the training he attended and his recommendations to the students who want to study in the field of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts with these words:

“Culinary culture of our country with its taste and diversity is a tourism dynamic which attracts more and more attention of people from many different cultures and appeals to their palate. If the number of catering enterprises in the field is taken into account, which is one of the three basic elements, along with travel and accommodation, for all people participating in the tourism movement, it can be clearly stated that the employment situation after graduation is very high in the field of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts. The biggest problem of this department, which has been opened in many universities in recent years and filled with quotas, is the inadequacy of the kitchen laboratories in which practical training will be given and the low number of lecturers in the field of culinary practices. My advice to prospective students who are thinking of choosing this program; in the period of preference, they should take into consideration the quality and quantity of the kitchen laboratories of university and the number of academicians who can give kitchen practice training in academic staff.”

During the certificate program organized within the scope of the trainers' training, Assistant Professor Ozgur Ergun has stated that they received high level education in five different application kitchens and thanked the academicians from different universities, Nisantasi University Rectorate offering this education opportunity as free of charge, and all the academicians providing training for us.

Rector Esra Hatipoglu has also expressed her thoughts about the certificate program as follows: “Our university has mobilized this certificate program, either kitchen application laboratories or its qualified staff who will give both theoretical and practical training courses in

the field of Gastronomy and Culinary arts as free of charge in order to contribute to the development of academicians from different universities.

We will continue to serve higher education in the near future with new education programs. Thanks to his supports, I would like to thank our Founding Chairman Dear Levent Uysal and all our academic staff labored during the training.”
