Within the scope of the Social Work with Community course conducted by the Department of Social Work at Istanbul Nişantaşı University's Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, a social responsibility project focused on disaster awareness was carried out under the supervision of Assist. Prof. Dr. Dilek Özsoy. The project was conducted with the participation of Social Work students Hamza Yasak, Nurettin Eren Ayten, Zekeriye Şener, Zeynep Tuna Tolun, and Bersu Nisir.

In the first stage of the project process, students took part in a disaster awareness training held in cooperation with AFAD on May 9, 2026. The training provided theoretical and practical knowledge on pre-disaster preparedness, correct behavior during a disaster, evacuation procedures, and basic disaster awareness. The aim was to increase students' knowledge levels on disaster management and social awareness.

Following the training process, the project team organized a disaster awareness training for students of Çağdaş Bilimler Koleji. In these trainings, students were informed about the precautions to be taken during disaster situations, creating safe areas, emergency behavior, and the importance of disaster awareness. In the practical stage of the training, a disaster drill was carried out with the active participation of the students.

Through the work carried out within the project, the aim was to develop disaster awareness among children and young people, raise individuals prepared for possible disaster situations, and increase social awareness. Interactive learning methods were used throughout the process, supporting students in gaining both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience.
