Foster Family Introduction and Social Service Practice Models Program Held

Istanbul Nişantaşı University's Social Contribution Coordination Office, in cooperation with INU-CELT and the Kağıthane Social Service Center, held an awareness program titled "Introduction to Foster Care and Social Service Practice Models" for academic staff on July 21, 2026.

In the program, Psychologist Osman Fatih Çıtak, Director of the Kağıthane Social Service Center, and Sociologist Esra Okumuş addressed the importance of foster care services, application and evaluation processes, the key differences between foster care and adoption, the importance of children growing up in a safe and supportive family environment, and current practices in the field of social services.

Participants had the opportunity to gain comprehensive information on the legal processes, practical examples, and field experiences related to the foster care model. The program was completed interactively with participants' questions and contributions. Through this program, the aim was to increase academic staff's knowledge and awareness of the foster care model, share current approaches to social service practices, and strengthen a sense of social responsibility.
