Within the scope of the Social Work with Community course at Istanbul Nişantaşı University's Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, Department of Social Work, a social responsibility project was prepared by 2nd-year Social Work students Şevval Gözel, İlayda Dilan Dener, and Sudenaz Aytürk under the supervision of the course instructor Assist. Prof. Dr. Dilek Özsoy. The project was carried out in cooperation with the Kağıthane Special Needs Individuals Education Center. As part of the project, an awareness and social participation event titled "Supporting the Social Participation of Individuals with Disabilities" was held at the Kağıthane Day Service Center for the Disabled during Disability Week, with instructors from the center supporting the students.
As part of the project, the Kağıthane Municipality organized a special breakfast program at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Nature Park during Disability Week (May 10–16), attended by students from the Day Service Center for the Disabled and their families.
The project aimed to support the social participation of individuals with disabilities, increase social interaction among families, and raise awareness of disability issues in society. Throughout the program, participants came together for social activities, strengthening communication and solidarity. Through these activities, the importance of the active participation of individuals with disabilities in social life was emphasized, contributing to the awareness effort.
Throughout the event, interaction and communication among students, families, and institution staff were supported. Participants had the opportunity to spend time together and strengthen their social bonds, once again highlighting the importance of the active participation of individuals with disabilities in social life.
