Playwriting Programme Themed “Metropolis, Hunger and Ecology”

Asst. Prof. Dr. Eylem Ejder, a faculty member of the Department of Performing Arts at our Conservatory, took part as a workshop facilitator in the Playwriting Programme themed “Metropolis, Hunger, Ecology,” organised by the ÇGSM unit of Istanbul City Theatres at Şişli Habitat Stage on 02.02.2026–03.02.2026.

During the workshop held in the final week of the seven-week programme, Dr. Ejder explored relational and entangled writing possibilities that move beyond human-centred narrative structures, with a focus on ecological dramaturgy. On the second day, she focused on autobiographical and hybrid textual forms in contemporary narratives and discussed the possibilities of autosociobiographical storytelling through the works of Ocean Vuong, Édouard Louis, Annie Ernaux and Yan Lianke.

Throughout the workshop, participants completed intensive writing exercises, alowing theoretical frameworks to be explored directly through the process of producing texts.
