The Sustainability Studies Summit was held on Monday, June 3, 2024, at Istanbul Nişantaşı University's 1453 Maslak NeoTech Campus. At the summit, topics including sustainable development, gender equality, quality education, social justice, energy efficiency, and responsible production and consumption were addressed within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Sevda Alkan from UN Women, Emrah Kurum, President of the Sustainability Steps Association, Melisa Akkuş from the Corporate Responsibility Association of Turkey, Prof. Dr. Ayşe İdil Aybars, Head of the Department of Social Policy at Middle East Technical University, and Ertan Küçükyalçın, Founder of the Sustainability Platform, evaluated the implementation and impact dimensions of sustainable development policies along the axes of economic growth, social inclusion, protection of environmental resources, and reduction of inequalities.
At the summit, discussions were held on how the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, adopted by the United Nations in 2015 with consideration for both current and future generations, can be transformed into concrete outcomes through collaborations between the public sector, academia, civil society, and the private sector. As of 2024, Istanbul Nişantaşı University has positioned sustainable development as one of the core components of its institutional mission and continues to generate SDG-focused impact through its research, education, and community contribution activities.
