Asst. Prof. Dr. Eylem Ejder, a faculty member of the Department of Performing Arts at our Conservatory, presented a paper entitled “Writing on Place: Dramaturgy in Place-Based Artistic Research” at the 2nd National Symposium on Performing and Visual Arts, organised by the Faculty of Fine Arts at Bursa Uludağ University and held in Bursa between 06–08.04.2026.
In her paper, Ejder examined how dramaturgy functions within place- and site-based artistic research developed through practices of walking, writing and notebook-keeping, with reference to expanded and new dramaturgical practices that are also used today in the fields of sociology and contemporary art.
Drawing on her own artistic practice as research, she discussed the impact of the multilayered structure and historical traces of place on narrative, visual design and hybrid textual production through fieldwork conducted in the Samatya district.
