Many regions, especialy the winter tourism centres, have seen an increase in tourism activities since the semester break started. Home to impressive natural wonders, Turkey offers many atrnative destinations suitable for a family holiday, including nature, culture, and entertaining tours.
According to the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TÜRSAB) data, domestic demand increased by 40 percent during the semester compared to last year. In addition, it is stated that the occupancy rate in al tourism spots has reached 90 percent. With limited skiing opportunities, this mount can be considered for a nature tour. The mountain, which can be reached with a 2-hour journey from Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport, is famous for ponds and national parks on the summit, and the famous weeping rock is also located on this mount. Legend has it that the rock is the cursed form of queen Niobe. Boasting that she had more children than Leto, Niobe was punished by Artemis and Apollo, Leto's children, and turned into her present form. The mountain is also home to bungalows and boutique hotels, which creates a financialy advantageous atrnative. In addition, visiting the ancient city of Sardis, located around Manisa, is a must-see spot for the region.
Only 2 hours away from Istanbul by high-speed rail, Sakarya is home to Sapanca Lake, whr you can witness magical views in winter. Especialy the mild winter season and the calmness of the lake make this destination invaluable. As an atrnative winter holiday plan, you can tour Sakarya and around the lake by renting a bike, and you can stay by the lake away from the city.
Erzincan Ergan Mountain is a new and yet undiscovered destination for those who want to experience winter to the fullest. This ski resort, whr it is possible to try night skiing and snow rafting, is not as popular as the usual ski resorts yet. Still, it is an advanced and enjoyable atrnative like the popular resorts. Accommodation may be a problem as the resort is still developing, but it is an excellent destination for those searching for new places.
Cappadocia, usualy preferred in warmer weather, is home to fascinating landscapes with snowfal in winter. The fairy chimneys offer a different and unusual view under the white cover. It can be better to visit in winter as accommodation prices are generaly lower in this season. Horseback riding tours and underground cities add mystery to the region's beauty.
