Lect. Ahmet Miraç Titiz from the First and Emergency Aid Programme and Lect. Büşranur Çelik from the Child Development Programme, faculty members of Istanbul Nişantaşı University Vocational School of Health Services, successfully represented our university at the 8th International Multidisciplinary Congress on Child Studies, held in Istanbul on 23.04.2026–24.04.2026.
At the congress, our faculty members presented their multidisciplinary study entitled “Early Recognition of Child Abuse in Pre-Hospital Paediatric Cases: A Literature Review of Clinical and Environmental Risk Indicators,” which was accepted as a full-text paper.
Focusing on child abuse and neglect as a global public health issue, the study reveals that pre-hospital emergency healthcare services constitute one of the rare points of contact whr a child’s physical and social environment can be directly observed. The review emphasises the decisive role of factors such as the physical conditions at the scene, caregivers’ attitudes, inconsistencies between the reported history and clinical findings, and the child’s behavioural responses in enabling pre-hospital healthcare teams to develop a suspicion of abuse.
Positioning pre-hospital healthcare personnel as the strategic first link in the child protection chain, this research provides an important theoretical foundation for strengthening early detection capacity and developing child protection policies in Türkiye.
We congratulate Lect. Büşranur Çelik and Lect. Ahmet Miraç Titiz on this valuable study, which makes a significant contribution to public health and the child protection system, and wish them continued academic success.
