Istanbul Nişantaşı University Faculty of Art and Design Textile and Fashion Design Department organized an event titled "Alternative Solutions for Sustainable Fashion" on June 3, 2024, at the 1453 Maslak NeoTech campus. Mr. Bahadır Beleli from Oleatex, the only company in the world that produces vegan leather from olive pomace, participated in the event.

During the event, students were informed about the vegan leathers produced from olive pomace by Oleatex and their applications. Textile and Fashion Design students examined the samples of Oleatex vegan leather and exchanged ideas through design examples.

The Head of the Textile and Fashion Design Department, Dr. Nursen Geyik Değerli, stated that vegan leathers, produced with a sustainable and environmentaly friendly approach by reducing waste, are new generation materials that will support the students' understanding of sustainable design.

The event, which attracted significant interest from future Textile and Fashion Design students, aimed to contribute to their design perspectives by introducing sustainable new generation materials and techniques.
