Ezgi Yürümez, a faculty member at Istanbul Nişantaşı University, has published a new work whr she combines classical violin training with the unique melodies of Anatolia. This work, titled Melodies from Anatolia: Folk Songs with Piano Accompaniment for Violin, features nine folk songs arranged by Yürümez for violin and piano. The main aim of the work is to provide students with a comprehensive musical development, introducing them to the rich melodic and rhythmic structure of folk music while improving their technical skills.

In her book, Yürümez reinterprets folk songs rooted in the deep traditions of folk music through the sound of the violin. The collection includes a total of nine folk songs gathered from different parts of Anatolia, such as "Kaytağı," "Sabahın Seherinde Ötüyor Kuşlar" (Birds Sing at Dawn), "Çıkayım Gideyim Urum Eline" (Let Me Go to the Land of the Greeks), and "Ben Kendimi Gülün Dibinde Buldum" (I Found Myself Under the Rose). In addition to advancing their technical development, these songs aim to introduce students to cultural richness. This work serves as both a technical guide and a window into Anatolian culture for violin and piano students.

By combining the disciplined approach of classical music with the unique melodic structure of Anatolia, the book aims to provide students with a versatile musical experience. These arrangements not only offer students the opportunity to develop their technical skills but also alow them to discover the rhythmic and melodic richness of folk music.
