Guest Speaker in the Classroom: Aircraft Technology Students Meet with Industry Professionals

The “Guest Speaker in the Classroom” event was organized through the collaboration of Istanbul Nişantaşı University's Technology Transfer Office (TTO), the Vocational School's Aircraft Technology Program, and the Technology Transfer Club, bringing students together with industry professionals.

As part of the event, the session titled “Industry Meeting: An Interactive Workshop with Aircraft Technology Students” welcomed Onur Solak, an Aircraft Maintenance Technician and Mechanical Engineer, as its guest speaker.

The event was organized to help Aircraft Technology Program students understand maintenance hangar operations through real-world applications, develop familiarity with AMM/FIM documentation practices, and raise awareness of professional qualifications within the framework of SHT-66. Strengthening students' motivation toward the aviation industry and supporting their professional career journeys were among the event's main objectives.

Guest speaker Onur Solak provided a comprehensive overview of the responsibilities of aircraft maintenance technicians, the contributions of a mechanical engineering perspective to maintenance processes, the differences between line maintenance and base maintenance, the use of AMM/FIM documentation, and key technical topics in aviation maintenance, including Human Factors (HF) and Safety Management Systems (SMS). The event concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, during which students had the opportunity to address their technical questions and curiosity about practical field operations.

The event was organized by the Technology Transfer Office, the Aircraft Technology Program of the Vocational School, and the Technology Transfer Club. The planning and implementation processes were coordinated by TTO Director Lecturer Muhammed Emin Özmen.
