Istanbul Nişantaşı University’s Faculty of Art and Design organized internal stakeholder meetings on January 9-10, 2025, to evaluate and improve academic quality processes. The meetings were organized with the support of the Rectorate and the Quality Coordination Office and were attended by department heads, deputy department heads, faculty members, and assistants.

Hosted by the Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design, Prof. Dr. Berrin Kalsın, the meetings were attended by Rector Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Komsuoğlu, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Yeşim Yeşer Özer Yürür, vice deans, representatives of the Quality Coordination Office, and the academic staff.

Discussions on Education, Administration, and Quality Processes

During the internal stakeholder meetings, educational and administrative processes for various departments of the faculty were thoroughly evaluated. Topics such as curriculum updates, the expansion of student-centered teaching models, and the efficiency of academic processes were discussed within the scope of quality studies. Additionaly, the departments' Institutional Accreditation Program (KAP) processes and quality assurance mechanisms were reviewed. Information was also shared on the support to be provided for departments applying for accreditation. The feedback and suggestions of faculty members and assistants regarding these topics and processes were taken into account.

On January 9, a joint session was held for the Digital Game Design, Industrial Design, and Graphic Design departments. The session was attended by Graphic Design Department Head Prof. Dr. Ahmet Süreyya Koçtürk, Industrial Design Department Head Dr. Şamil Can Güder, and Digital Game Design Department Head Dr. Hamdi Arslan.

On January 10, evaluation meetings were held for the Textile and Fashion Design, Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, Interior Architecture, and Radio, Television, and Cinema departments. The Textile and Fashion Design Department Head Dr. Nursen Geyik Değerli, Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department Head Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zehra Dilistan Shipman, Interior Architecture Department Head Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yaprak Özel, and Radio, Television, and Cinema Department Head Dr. Burcu Kurtiş participated in the meetings along with their academic staff.

Discussions on Strengthening Quality Processes, Workflow Improvements

In her speeches during the meetings, Rector Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Komsuoğlu emphasized the importance of an academic vision focused on quality and stated that the Faculty of Art and Design should continue to progress toward its goal of sustainable excellence in education. The Rector also highlighted that quality processes would be expanded across al faculties, stressing the importance of active participation by academic units in this process. She underlined that these meetings are crucial in terms of student feedback and internal stakeholder contributions.

During the meetings, current situation analyses of the departments were conducted, and concrete steps were taken to ensure continuous improvement in educational and academic processes. Furthermore, discussions were held regarding the contribution of the academic staff to the development of a strong quality management system within the Institutional Accreditation Program (KAP) framework.
