The “International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women” program took place at the Beştepe National Congress and Culture Center with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş. Istanbul Nişantaşı University was represented at the program by Vice Rector Ece Salihoğlu and the Director of the Women and Family Studies Application and Research Center, Prof. Dr. Göknur Akçadağ.

During the program, the promotional film of the “5th National Action Plan for Combating Violence Against Women” was screened and information about the action plan was shared. Palestinian women attending the program from Gaza presented Minister Göktaş and Emine Erdoğan, the wife of President Erdoğan, with a gift embroidered with the traditional Palestinian needlework known as “tatreez.”
