International Success from Istanbul Nişantaşı University’s Gastronomy Department

Students from Istanbul Nişantaşı University achieved remarkable success at the inter-university competition held as part of Salon du Chocolat, the world’s largest event dedicated to chocolate and cocoa. The competition team, comprised of students from the Gastronomy and Culinary Programs, made our university proud by winning second place at this prestigious international event.

The event took place at the Istanbul Congress Center, with pastry chefs from around the world serving as jury members. Antonio Bachour, who has twice been named the world’s best pastry chef, served as the head of the jury. Among the judges for the inter-hotel competition was also our university’s Culinary Director, Chef David Shipman.

Representing our university, the team included İrem Kahya, a third-year student from the Gastronomy Department, and Beril Beyda Usluğ and Yiğit Baran Bozkurt from the Culinary Program. Under the guidance of their instructor, Chef Ezgi Dila Ünal Dalgın, the team impressed the jury with their creative presentations and technical skills, receiving full marks.

Additionaly, one of our participants served as a moderator on behalf of our university during the competition, successfully reflecting our institution’s professional presence throughout the event.

This significant achievement is regarded as a strong indicator that Istanbul Nişantaşı University’s education in Gastronomy and Culinary Arts is advancing at international standards.
