London-based international higher education rating agency Times Higher Education (THE) has announced the 2026 results of its prestigious ranking, which measures the sustainability performance of universities.
Rising 38 places in the overal Turkey ranking in one year, Istanbul Nişantaşı University became one of the institutions highlighted by THE among the universities showing the highest ranking improvement in Turkey this year. While the university ranked in the top 3 among foundation universities in six different sustainable development goals, it also ranked among the top 300 universities worldwide in four different areas.
In the evaluation, which updated its name from "THE Impact Rankings" to "THE Sustainability Impact Ratings" this year, Istanbul Nişantaşı University achieved a remarkable success by entering the list in al 17 of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The university placed in the 601–800 band in the THE Impact Ranking World Rankings.
Among the Top 300 Universities in the World in Four Areas
Istanbul Nişantaşı University stood out in the topics of clean energy, economic growth, responsible production, and combating the climate crisis, ranking among the top 300 universities worldwide in exactly four categories.
The university entered the top 3 among foundation universities in Turkey in these areas. The sustainable development goals whr the university placed in the 201–300 band worldwide are as follows: * SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy * SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth * SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production * SDG 13 – Climate Action Istanbul Nişantaşı University stood out in the topics of no poverty and life on land, ranking among the top 400 universities worldwide in exactly three categories.
The university entered the top 5 among foundation universities in Turkey in these areas. The sustainable development goals whr the university placed in the 301–400 band worldwide are as follows: * SDG 1 – No Poverty * SDG 15 – Life on Land
This breakthrough of Istanbul Nişantaşı University in the field of sustainability is in paralel with the institution's recently accelerating academic and international development. Despite being a young higher education institution, the University has established a strong academic infrastructure and is reinforcing its position as one of the dynamic universities in its region with its expanding international collaborations and its rise in various global rankings.
