NeoChalenge Robotics Competition Awards Announced

NeoChalenge Robotics Competition, organized by the students of Nişantaşı University R&D club, was held at NeoTech Campus. A lot of students interested in robotics had the opportunity to show their knowledge and skills during the competition. The team, Ro-Ge consisting of Derda Yetim, Hatice Yazıcı, Gürkan Aksakal, and Caner Babacan, won 1st place in the competition. 17 teams of 4 members each competed keenly.

Training first, then the competition

The students received electronics, coding, and 3D design training a week before the competition. They had the chance to test their new learnings with their new materials during the training. On the day of the competition, the students competed keenly to build their own robots, also showed the new knowledge they gained during the 1-week training.

“Robots will do the manufacturing”

Emphasizing that the world is moving towards a place whr everything can be done automaticaly, Prof. Dr. Onur Osman, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, said, “It is important that robots will be operative on standard jobs, especialy in environments whr people should not enter, such as chemical and radioactive areas, and that robots can work without any error.”

Foreseeing the use of robots in the defense industry and medicine, as well as in industrial areas, Prof. Dr. Onur Osman said, “Regarding the defense industry, people will now have their robots fight each other using their simulation glasses. Furthermore, regarding health issues, I think solutions will be produced for the early diagnosis or rapid treatment of many diseases with microsurgery and nanorobotic systems. This means that with Industry 4.0 and 5.0, robots will begin to do manufacturing in many areas.”

The goal is more competition

Pointing out that there are students who have participated in various international competitions and achieved degrees as well as an already established R&D laboratory in Nişantaşı University, Prof. Dr. Onur Osman said, “Another new laboratory will be established. Our goal is to see our students in both national and international competitions, to establish more infrastructure, to provide students with training in robotics, to organize robotic competitions among ourselves, to help the students from departments such as computer, software, and mechatronics develop themselves in robotics, image processing, and artificial intelligence, and encourage them to take part in competitions.”
