Nişantaşı University, which began its higher education journey in the 2010–2011 academic year, made a significant advancement in the field of health in 2021 by establishing the Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry. Dr. Levent Uysal, Founder of the Nişantaşı Education Foundation, explained the university’s groundbreaking educational approach for these faculties, which will focus on early diagnosis and sustainable healthy living through robotic technologies, big data analysis and genetic research. The Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry, whose academic and physical development processes had been under way for a long time, were officialy established through the Official Gazette dated 21.05.2021. “Since the day we were founded, we have aimed to bring young people together with the education of the future through an innovative approach. We will now introduce the technology- and human-centred education model, which we implement across al our academic units through the Education 5.0 model, to our Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry. These two faculties are so important for both our university and our country that we will also establish a 240-bed university hospital equipped with the latest technological facilities through a large-scale investment. Academic staff recruitment for these faculties, whr international scientific activities will be prioritised, is continuing rapidly. A project-based and clinicaly intensive curriculum supported by collaborations with international universities will also be implemented.” ## We Must Prevent Diseases Before They Occur Emphasising the need for change in global healthcare following the pandemic, Uysal continued: “The effective use of technology, biomedical systems and genetic data in medical education, and therefore the importance of holistic medical education, is increasing. We can now access opportunities that support healthy living and disease prevention. Through digital medicine approaches, we can monitor the diseases to which individuals may be geneticaly predisposed, as well as the body’s early warning signs. Based on al these data, we can provide personalised treatment and medication recommendations. In the long term, this will mean a healthier and longer life for humanity. With our advanced technological facilities and specialist physicians who possess international experience, we aim to implement the future vision of the Global Healthcare Sector and even become one of the medical faculties that shapes this vision.” ## The Aim Is to Educate the Dentists of the Future Who Can Provide Personalised Treatment Continuing with information about the Faculty of Dentistry, Uysal stated: “Since 2013, our university has been providing practice-oriented education in the Oral and Dental Health and Dental Prosthetics Technology programmes. Our academic and clinical experience in this field has made a major contribution to the establishment of our Faculty of Dentistry. Our preclinical laboratory, with a capacity of 82 students, and our clinical laboratory, with a capacity of 60 students, are already fully operational. In our country, which has a young population, we aim to provide the most innovative and high-quality education in the field of dentistry. Within the framework of our Education 5.0 approach, we will provide digital dentistry education supported by technologies such as 3D printing and next-generation laser systems. Particularly in the field of aesthetic dentistry, three-dimensional printing technology now enables personalised treatment approaches. Our aim is to educate successful dentists who can integrate current technologies into their professional processes and provide personalised treatment.” Uysal concluded by stating that “a curriculum based on global accreditations has been developed for these faculties, whr foreign-language-intensive integrated education will be implemented to ensure sustainable success in two important areas of healthcare education and the healthcare sector: international students and international patients.” Dr. Levent Uysal also expressed his hope that the Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry at Nişantaşı University would bring benefit and success to the country.
