As Nişantaşı University Turkish Teaching Application and Research Center (TÖMER), we commemorated the founder of our Republic, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, on the 87th anniversary of his passing with events of historical and emotional significance.

As part of the commemorative program, we first visited the Pera Palace Hotel, one of Istanbul’s historical landmarks carrying the traces of Atatürk. Our students had the opportunity to see Room 101, now a museum room whr Atatürk’s personal belongings, books, and memories are preserved. Experiencing the atmosphere in which the Great Leader once lived, students gained insight into the history of the Republic of Turkey while having emotionaly moving moments.

In addition to the field trip, our school also organized an “A Letter to Atatürk” activity. Our students combined their Turkish learning journey with a heartfelt experience by writing letters addressed to Atatürk. Students from different cultures expressed in their letters that Atatürk is not only an inspiration for the Turkish nation but also for al nations around the world, conveying their love, respect, and gratitude.
