NU-CELT Trainings: Comprehensive Information on Research Processes and Projects Shared in Our Completed Program

The "CELT 2024-2025 Trainings: Research Processes and Projects" program, organized by INU-CELT at Istanbul Nişantaşı University's NeoTech Campus, was successfully completed with the active participation of our academics. The program began with an opening speech by our Vice-Rector, Prof. Dr. Yeşim Özer. In her speech, Prof. Dr. Özer made important remarks about the development of the university's research infrastructure, scientific goals, and national-international projects. She emphasized the strategic role that TÜBİTAK, the European Union, and UNESCO projects play in enhancing the university’s academic recognition.

The program continued with a presentation by Irmak Ak, Deputy Coordinator of Scientific Activities. Ak provided information about whr our university stands in terms of scientific publications and academic activities, highlighting the work of the committees that encourage scientific endeavors and activities aimed at improving academic performance. Project Consultant Başak Zeynep Tüzün then explained how the work carried out within the scope of Erasmus, Horizon projects, and in general, European Union projects, strengthens the university's position both nationaly and internationaly.

In the second session of the program, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Komsuoğlu Çıtıpıtıoğlu, discussed the projects she has been working on in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Özgün Erler from Istanbul University. Prof. Dr. Erler emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary work in international relations, offering insights into overcoming bureaucratic and financial barriers encountered in projects. Our Rector focused on the mistakes made in project writing and the critical points that may lead to the rejection of applications. Prof. Dr. Çıtıpıtıoğlu highlighted that the lack of clear definitions of project goals and ambiguities in research methods often cause even good projects to be rejected during the application phase. She emphasized that successful projects are accepted due to the attention given to details, stressing the importance of careful and well-planned work. Additionaly, she assured that our university will always support academics applying for projects.

The program concluded with a speech by Assoc. Prof. Selçuk Bildik. Assoc. Prof. Bildik outlined the stages of research projects: project design, writing, budget preparation, and the efficient use of resources, underlining the importance of project formulation in the field of engineering. He explained the steps to follow in determining project goals, execution, and evaluating the impacts, and emphasized the necessary criteria for forming a project team and ensuring widespread impact in his closing remarks.
