As Nişantaşı University Turkish Teaching Application and Research Center (TÖMER), we celebrated the anniversary of the founding of our Republic with a meaningful event featuring the active participation of our students.
At our center, which aims to reinforce language learning through cultural activities, a special class activity was organized for the October 29 Republic Day. During the event, students were informed about the proclamation of the Republic and its importance in Turkish history, sharing the spiritual significance of this special day.
In the nostalgic activity held with our TÖMER students, a journey through a time tunnel was created. Our students imagined themselves on the morning of October 29, 1923, and designed symbolic newspapers reflecting the excitement of that historic day. These newspapers, featuring headlines like “The Republic Has Been Proclaimed,” enabled students to combine their Turkish writing skills with creativity.
In addition to the newspaper designs, handmade postcards decorated with Republic-themed motifs added color to the event. All the works created were exhibited in TÖMER classrooms.
The fact that students from different cultures celebrated one of Turkey’s most important national holidays with the same enthusiasm once again demonstrated the truth that “learning a language means feeling its culture.” Long live the new year of our Republic!
