Azra Nihan Eke from the Foreign Languages Department at Istanbul Nişantaşı University participated in the ESSE 2026 Conference, held in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. At the conference, Siavash Bakhtshirin and Azra Nihan Eke’s study, “Embodied Translanguaging & Multimodal Communication in Multilingual University English Preparatory Classrooms,” was presented.

The study examined how students in multilingual university English preparatory classrooms use different communicative resources during classroom activities, with a focus on translanguaging and multimodal communication. Bringing together academics and researchers from different countries, ESSE 2026 provided a platform for sharing current research, discussing diverse academic perspectives, and fostering international academic exchange.

As the Foreign Languages Department, we congratulate our colleagues Siavash Bakhtshirin and Azra Nihan Eke on this achievement. We will continue to support and encourage academic research and international scholarly engagement.
