The event “Smokeless Thursday – Give Voice to the Breath of the Future!”, organized through the collaboration of Istanbul Nişantaşı University and the Youth Services Center, highlighted young people’s views and recommendations on tobacco control. Despite Türkiye’s achievements in the fight against tobacco use, the increasing consumption among youth and the renewed emergence of passive smoking made this event even more significant.

With high participation, the program included various sessions and talks aimed at evaluating tobacco control policies from the perspective of young people and strengthening the awareness of smoke-free spaces.

At the heart of the event, the exhibition “The Missing Story of the Packages,” curated by Dr. Burcu Kurtiş, drew attention with atrnative designs that emphasized the shortcomings of the health warnings on cigarette packages. Issues such as passive smoking, the right to a smoke-free life, and the risks faced by young people were vividly depicted in the works.

The program began with the opening remarks of moderator Eda Zaloğlu. Following this, Istanbul Nişantaşı University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Uğur Yozgat expressed the university’s commitment to supporting the social contributions of young people.
