A strategic agreement covering academic and scientific cooperation has been signed between İstanbul Nişantaşı University and Semmelweis University, one of Europe’s leading universities in the field of health sciences.
Within the scope of the cooperation established between the two universities, joint studies are planned in areas including medicine and health sciences, research, academic mobility, joint scientific projects, international publications, educational activities and academic events. Semmelweis University, the partner institution, stands out for its international success by ranking among the world’s top 200 universities in the “Medical and Health” category of the Times Higher Education (THE) 2026 Rankings.
The agreement, implemented in line with the initiatives of İstanbul Nişantaşı University Faculty of Medicine to strengthen its international academic collaborations, was concluded by Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Emrah İpek on behalf of İstanbul Nişantaşı University Rector Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Komsuoğlu Çıtıpıtıoğlu, and by Director of the Centre for Translational Medicine Prof. Dr. Péter Hegyi on behalf of Semmelweis University Rector Prof. Dr. Béla Merkely.
As one of the first concrete academic steps of the cooperation, Prof. Dr. Emrah İpek was invited to serve as a member of the academic jury for the PhD Complex Exam programme organised by the Centre for Translational Medicine at Semmelweis University.
During the programme held in Budapest on 17 June 2026, Prof. Dr. Emrah İpek chaired the evaluation process of the “Critical Care” session. The examination, in which doctoral studies in translational medicine, clinical research and intensive care are evaluated, stands out as one of the important stages of Semmelweis University’s postgraduate education process.
