Istanbul Nişantaşı University held an important strategic meeting with Tehran Smart University of Medical Sciences to strengthen regional collaborations in the fields of health sciences and digital health. The meeting was attended by Dr. Levent Uysal, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Istanbul Nişantaşı University; Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Komsuoğlu Çıtıpıtıoğlu, Rector; and Dr. Shahriar Eslamitabar, representing Tehran Smart University of Medical Sciences.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the development of joint projects particularly in the areas of smart medical technologies, health sciences, food technologies, and digital health applications. Additionaly, initiating student and academic staff exchange programs and launching dual-degree master’s programs were on the agenda.

One of the key topics of the meeting was food technologies, a globaly emerging field. Participants emphasized the direct relationship between the sustainability of agricultural and food systems and human health, underlining the strategic importance of academic studies in this area not only for the universities but also for the future of the world.

Furthermore, project proposals that will form the foundation of the cooperation protocol to be signed between the two universities were evaluated. The academic coordination of the projects will be led by Dr. Ali Paşazade, faculty member of the Faculty of Art and Design at Istanbul Nişantaşı University. Working grps to be established within the scope of the projects aim to enhance the academic quality of the initiatives and to develop a long-term, sustainable cooperation model between the two universities.
