A strategic agreement encompassing academic and scientific cooperation was signed between Istanbul Nişantaşı University and Semmelweis University, one of Europe's leading health sciences universities.
Within the scope of the collaboration established between the two universities, it is aimed to carry out joint studies in the fields of research, academic mobility, joint scientific projects, international publications, educational activities, and academic events, particularly in medicine and health sciences. The collaborating institution, Semmelweis University, stands out with its international success by ranking among the top 200 universities globaly in the "Medical and Health" category in the Times Higher Education (THE) 2026 Rankings.
The agreement, realized in line with the initiatives of the Istanbul Nişantaşı University Faculty of Medicine to develop international academic collaborations, was executed by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Emrah İpek, representing Istanbul Nişantaşı University Rector Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Komsuoğlu Çıtıpıtıoğlu, and the Director of the Translational Medicine Centre, Prof. Dr. Péter Hegyi, representing Semmelweis University Rector Prof. Dr. Béla Merkely.
As one of the first concrete academic steps of the collaboration, Prof. Dr. Emrah İpek was invited as an academic jury member to the PhD Complex Exam program organized by the Semmelweis University Translational Medicine Centre.
Within the scope of the program held in Budapest on June 17, 2026, Prof. Dr. Emrah İpek chaired the evaluation processes of the "Critical Care" session. The exam, whr doctoral studies in the fields of translational medicine, clinical research, and intensive care are evaluated, stands out as one of the important stages of Semmelweis University's postgraduate education processes.
Istanbul Nişantaşı University continues to strengthen scientific production, research collaborations, and global academic interaction through strategic partnerships developed with respected higher education institutions worldwide in line with its internationalization vision.
