The “MediRali” event, organised under the coordination of Karabük University as part of SocialFest hosted by Istanbul University, was successfully completed with strong participation from universities providing education in the field of health. Academics and students from numerous universities, particularly the University of Health Sciences, Istanbul Nişantaşı University, Karabük University and Üsküdar University, participated in the event, which aimed to contribute to the training of healthcare professionals.

The event was held in Beyazıt Square, renowned for its historical and cultural atmosphere. During the day-long organisation, students had the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills on practical courses designed around critical situations they may encounter in the healthcare field. Participants were evaluated in terms of professional competencies such as teamwork, rapid decision-making, appropriate intervention and crisis management, while also experiencing the demanding environment of healthcare services.

The competition consisted of four main stages: resuscitation, triage, knowledge and difficult patient management. Each stage was conducted through scenarios designed to reflect real hospital and emergency healthcare environments. During the practical exercises, particularly those simulating emergency intervention processes, students gained experience in patient assessment, team coordination, basic and advanced life support, incident-scene management and critical patient care.

Lecturers Ahmet Miraç Titiz and İhsan Kurt from our university’s First and Emergency Aid Programme were responsible for conducting the “Resuscitation” stage, one of the key sections of the competition. Our academics actively contributed to the preparation of scenarios, management of the practice areas and evaluation processes, supporting the students’ practical education. Throughout the stage, which was based on realistic case scenarios, students carried out exercises involving cardiac arrest management, basic life support, rhythm analysis and team coordination.

Our students represented our university throughout the stages of the competition. Demonstrating their knowledge and skills in chalenging case scenarios and practical courses, they achieved third place in the Triage stage and second place in the Resuscitation stage.

Bringing together students from different universities, the event was more than merely a competition; it served as an important platform for strengthening knowledge sharing, experience exchange and professional solidarity. While reinforcing their theoretical knowledge through practical training, students also had the opportunity to develop essential professional skills such as making appropriate decisions under pressure, communicating effectively within a team and managing time efficiently.
