Hosted by Istanbul Nişantaşı University, the “Role of Digitalization in Strengthening Surgical Nursing” Symposium began with an opening speech by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fadime Çınar, Head of the Nursing Department. Dr. Çınar emphasized the impact of digitalization on healthcare systems, the importance of ethical principles, and the necessity of interdisciplinary collaboration.

Following the opening, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Uğur Yozgat highlighted the therapeutic power of art, particularly music, in supporting the mental well-being of healthcare professionals and combating occupational burnout.

The symposium continued with expert sessions exploring digital transformation in surgical nursing:

· Prof. Dr. Neriman Akyolcu (Istinye University) underlined that nursing is a noble duty, not just a profession, and emphasized the need for ethical, scientificaly grounded education.

· Dr. Nurgül Arpag (Istanbul Atlas University) discussed how digital technologies and AI enhance care quality and access to healthcare while enabling personalized medicine.

· Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yasemin Uslu (Istanbul University) reflected on the pandemic’s educational chalenges and opportunities, stressing collaborative learning and flexibility.

· Dr. Mahmut Dağcı (Bezmialem University) presented smart medical technologies used in infection control and critical care settings.

· Prof. Dr. Yazile Sayın (Rumeli University) focused on the ethical and legal responsibilities that come with digital transformation in healthcare.

· Prof. Dr. Serdar Sarıtaş (Malatya Turgut Özal University) addressed the physiological effects of spatial disorientation in astronauts, emphasizing the complexity of space travel on the human body.

The symposium provided participants with a multidimensional perspective on the ethical, technological, and human impacts of digitalization in health services.
