The “We Are Responsible for One Another” project was developed by Derin Yiğit, an 11th-grade student at Sainte Pulchérie French High School. In the initial phase of the project, Duru Gazioğlu, a 10th-grade student at Sajev French High School, joined the team.
Throughout the process, a committee consisting of 4 Sainte Pulchérie, 3 Sajev, 2 SAC, and 1 Sezin High School student was formed, and the project activities were jointly carried out by this team.
Within the scope of the project, and under the slogan “We Are Responsible for One Another,” high school students organized a meaningful social responsibility event on December 3 at Semiha Şakir Children’s Home. The event aimed to highlight the importance of mutual responsibility among individuals and to bring this awareness to life through a concrete initiative.
The event was supported by 5th-year dental students from the Faculty of Dentistry at Istanbul Nişantaşı University. During the event, children were taught proper tooth-brushing habits, and with the sponsorship of Colgate and other companies, each child received toothpaste and a toothbrush as a gift.
Additionaly, magic shows and fun activities carried out with the participating high school students alowed the children to dance, play games, and enjoy quality time. The program ensured that the children both had fun and learned practical information they can use in their daily lives.
Project Purpose
The aim of the project is to emphasize the impact of access to accurate information—combined with the right support mechanisms—on both individual and societal development, in line with the understanding of “We Are Responsible for One Another.” The project seeks to strengthen the awareness that young people are responsible not only for their own growth but also for the progress of society.
In this context, the project aims for students to: discover their potential through accurate knowledge and collaboration, contribute positively to society, and develop a strong sense of social responsibility.
Following the event, the participating students stated that they gained clearer future goals and became motivated to initiate new social responsibility projects.
Conclusion
The project once again demonstrated that young people can create social awareness by taking active responsibility. It strongly highlighted the principle that “This country is entrusted to its youth.”
