The first step of a significant R&D collaboration has been taken between Istanbul Nişantaşı University and Şenmak Machine Industry, a well-established company in the machinery and defense industry sectors. A preliminary agreement has been signed between the parties to strengthen university-industry cooperation.

Founded in 1987, Şenmak Machine Industry is among the leading companies in Europe in its field, particularly recognized for its expertise in machinery parts production and defense industry applications. The company aims to make substantial contributions to the planned project with its strong position in the sector.

Within the scope of the signed preliminary agreement, the first phase of the industrial project to be carried out under the coordination of Istanbul Nişantaşı University’s R&D Unit and Sector Office has been planned. The project has an approximate budget of 24 million TRY under the TEYDEB program and, together with the contribution to the university, represents a large-scale collaboration model. In this respect, the agreement stands out as one of the largest R&D-based collaborations of the university.

During the meetings, mutual goodwill was expressed regarding internship programs for students to gain sectoral experience, graduate employment opportunities, and long-term academic-industry collaborations. In the upcoming period, it is also planned to sign a separate partnership agreement covering internship opportunities for students.

Officials from Şenmak Machine Industry stated that they aim to collaborate with the university not only within the scope of the current TEYDEB project but also in various R&D and innovation projects, emphasizing their readiness to invest in projects proposed by the university.

The signing ceremony was attended by Chairman of the Board Hüseyin Semercil, Deputy General Manager Ayşe Gül Songül, and R&D Product Development Consultant Hamdi Gülen on behalf of Şenmak Machine Industry. Representing Istanbul Nişantaşı University were Vice Rector for R&D Prof. Dr. Ece Salihoğlu, and R&D Sector Office Directors Dr. İsmail Kasap and Engineer Timuçin Bayram.

This strategic collaboration aims to strengthen university-industry integration, combine academic knowledge with sectoral applications, and contribute to the development of qualified projects that will support Türkiye’s production capacity.
