Borderless World; Mediterranean - International Symposium Held at our University
Borderless world; Mediterranean " - Mediterranean As A Field Of Encounter From Japan to Europe Symposium (October 31 November - November 1) - took place in our University. The organizing committee of the symposium, which took place in cooperation with Nişantaşı University, Hitotsubashi University (Tokyo-Japan) and Toyo University, (Tokyo-Japan), was formed by Prof. Dr. Hiroshi Kato (Hitotsubashi University, Tokyo, Japan), Prof. Dr. Noubo Misawa (Toyo University-Tokyo, Japan) and Assoc. Dr. Göknur akçadağ (Nişantaşı University) secretariat of the forum was conducted by Prof. Misawa and Assoc.Dr. Akçadağ.
"Borderless World: Mediterranean As A Field Of Encounter " Symposium, is the second of the symposium series of a project created within the context of Prof. Dr. Hiroshi Kato's interest in Japan's Mediterranean and has received academic support. For the purpose, a working group was formed from the countries around the Mediterranean and from Japan. Dr. Göknur Akçadağ from Nişantaşı University was also included as a member the working group. The first of the symposium series was held in Italy. At the beginning of the 19th century and 20th century, the interest of other states in the Mediterranean and political, commercial and cultural relations; Japan's commercial activities in the Mediterranean during the inter-war period; the Mediterranean as a civilization and as a field of encounter were discussed in the proceedings, presentations and symposium sessions. In the last session, speeches have also taken place in memory of Maria Pia Pedani, (Ca Foscari University, Venice) who recently passed away and is known by the history community in Turkey and the world. Researchers from Japan, Greece, Italy, Croatia, Tunisia and Turkey presented their research and exchanged views on the subject. The papers and presentations presented at the symposium will appear in the special issue of the Journal published by Hitostubashi University and will be published in mid-2020.
In the opening session of the symposium which attended by students of Turkish-English Departments of history and international relations and academicians, Melis Oktuğ, Vice Rector, gave an opening speech on behalf of our University. The inaugural conferences of Prof. Dr. Hiroshi KATO, Prof. Dr.Nobuo MISAWA and Assoc. Dr. Göknur Akcadağ took place. On the 2nd day, first session of the symposium took place with moderation of Prof. Dr. Kato, and presentations of lecturer Dr. Salim Savaş BIÇER (Nişantaşı University). Prof. Dr. Hassen ANNABI (Tunis University, TUNUISIA), Prof. Dr. Presentations by Akira USUKI (Japan Women's University, JAPAN). Second session was held with moderation of Prof. Dr. Miki Iida (Senshu University, JAPAN), and with presentations by Prof.Dr. Antonio FABRIS (University of São Paulo, ITALY), Dr. Levent Kaya OCAKAÇAN (Bahçeşehir University), Prof. Dr. Vaios VAIOPOULOS (Ionian University, GREECE), Prof. Dr. Mauro BONDIOLI (Ars Nautica Project, CROATIA), Ryosuke KUBO (Ph. D. Student, Hitotsubashi University), Naoko AIISO (Ph. D. Student, Keio University), Assoc. Dr. Göknur AKÇADAĞ, (Nişantaşı University), Prof. Dr. Presentations by Katsuyuki TAKENAKA (Aichi Prefectural University, JAPAN), and concluded with Prof. Dr. Hiroshi KATO and Assoc.Dr. Göknur Akçadağ's evaluation and closing speeches.Release date: 06.11.2019
