Generations Met at the Concert
"Generations Meet in Art" project of Refreshment University, which carries out its studies in Istanbul at Nişantaşı University, continues to bring together individuals over 60 years old and young people.
Students from the Refreshment University over the age of 60 and the students of Nişantaşı University recently met at the Kalben concert. Within the scope of this project, which was developed in order to eliminate the generational difference, students over 60 years of age met with students and had moments full of music at the concert held at Zorlu PSM.
Initially, 29 students of Refreshment University were paired with 29 undergraduate and associate students. Each match has been assigned to an event to its extent in hobby tendencies. Before and after the activities, it was aimed that the students communicate with each other and transfer their experiences to each other. Students who have participated in many artistic events until now have watched theater on World Theater Day and listened to Turkish Classical Music concert. Finally, the old generation and the young generation, who met at the Kalben concert, spent hours of fun together.
"FORTUNATELY, I AM HERE"
Seher Erkış, who is 60 years old, shared her opinions about the University of Refreshment before the concert, and said, "You can change your vision with projects like this, you see different things. I've traveled the world so far, I've seen nearly 60 countries. This university was a distinguishing experience for me. I really wanted to be here, I almost nag at the teachers to involve me. Now I'm glad to be here. It was nice to meet young people and my own peers. Our teachers informed us well. We can get the information given very well with the help of the experience gained within the years. We want to convey these experiences to young people. The important thing is to be able to give love first and foremost, if we can achieve this, then everything comes next."
"WE HAVE THE CHANCE TO LISTEN THE PAST FROM THE FIRST HAND"
Batuhan Sıraç, a freshman in the Department of Electroneurophysiology at Nisantasi University, who matches Seher Erkış in the project, said: "This project allows me to learn a lot about the past. They say people who don't know their past have no future. We get a chance to listen the past from the first hand. This is my first event, but I will continue to be with them."
"THEY INSPIRE US WITH THE SPIRIT OF YOUTH AND WE TRANSFER THEM OUR EXPERIENCES"
Soydan Mutlu, a 66-year-old chemical engineer, who said that they studied at universities with difficulties as the 68 generation students, stated that he was very happy to study in a new generation university and it is very nice to be with young people. Mutlu added, "They inspire us the spirit of youth, and we transfer our experiences to them. Initially, there were some hesitation that ‘Can we get along with them? But we were mingled in a very short time, we had no problems. It was a motivating school time."
"WE HAD VERY NICE FEEDBACKS"
Soydan Mutlu's partner in the study, Nişantaşı University Journalism Department second year student Burcu Tunç said, "The project arised to perform art and culture activities together by bringing together new and old generations. We had very good feedbacks after the first activities. We had a lot of fun. Both the older generations and the new generations had the opportunity to pass on their experiences to each other. "

Refreshment University, which have its center campus at Akdeniz University and maintains its activities in Istanbul, at the Nişantaşı University Maslak 1453 NeoTech Campus, is a social responsibility project designed for individuals aged 60 and over. Within the scope of the project, participants are given lessons in the fields of health, sports, art, communication, and workshops are held to demonstrate their talents. The aim of Refreshment University in Turkey, with the difference of from the rest of the world known as "third age university" for people 60 years over, is to recover the aging from the concept of age and prepare constantly refreshed generations with the lifelong learning philosophy.
