Prof. Dr. Sinan Canan: Women’s and men’s brains are not equal, but complementary to each other

Neuroscientist Prof. Dr. Sinan Canan stated that women’s and men’s minds are not equal, and also added, “Nothing is equal in nature. Women and men are not equal, but complementary to each other. They have found a way to live together for millions of years.”

It has been researched if brains are possible to be separated as female and male in a study in the journal of National Academy of Sciences in the United States of America where original researches, scientific collections, comments and letters are published. Brains were scanned in a detailed way in the research, but no part specific to female or male was encountered.

Neuroscientist Prof. Dr. Sinan Canan shared information about how women’s and men’s brains work and if there is any difference between them in the 3rd Neuroscience Congress held in Nişantaşı University, and also said, “We do not have any basic differences. However, minor differences in brain’s processing and structure may result in big differences in behaviours. We know that women are different than man from their walking to speaking in daily life.”

UNDERSTANDING EVOLUTIONARY STORY SOLVES THE PROBLEM

“Our behaviours are learnt, but also there are some differences based on the structure of brain. Upon examination of the brain structure, differences are not easy to be recognized because they are minor. It is essential to discuss about the differences reflected on the behaviours”, said Prof. Dr. Sinan Canan. She also added:

“We need to examine evolutionary story of the brain instead of measuring anatomy and chemistry of the brain in order to find this out. Evolutionary story of the human-being is yet not known well. Even though it is still not understood, we have been discussing about if women and men are equal or who is superior. Therefore, understanding evolutionary process will solve this problem.”

“ROLES ARE SHARED WITHOUT KNOWING THE HUMAN-BEING”

Prof. Dr. Sinan Canan, stating women’s and men’s minds are not equal, explained, “Nothing is equal in nature. Our roles within the civilization we have created are being shared without knowing the human-being. For that reason, we have a lot of problems. Women and men are not equal, but complementary to each other. They have found a way to live together for millions of years”.
